Dress Code
Dress Code
2010-2011 Dance Dress Code!!

Proper Attire shows respect for your class and teacher! It also sets the mood for the class you are in!
Please follow our dress code rules.
Hair must all be up: This will help the teacher to see your alignment of your neck
Leotard and tights for Ballet: help the teacher to see your legs and if you have proper turnout, the Leo helps the teacher to see your spine, and if the child has proper technique.
Younger classes require a certain color of Leotard for the class. This is to limit distractions with children and If they all look the same, It also makes it easier for the teacher to pick out children who need some assistance.
Shoes
Tap shoes are important. Please pay close attention to the sound of your tap shoe. A cheeper tap shoe will have a scratchy sound and is horrible for the dance floors. When a child has a cheeper shoe they get very frustrated because they do not hear the sound we are teaching them to have with their feet. A higher end tap shoe will have great sound, and create excitement in the student. It will give us the "music" on the floor we are creating in the class and for dances. It also helps the child to be excited about the class when they can hear the sound they can make with them.
Ballet Shoes should fit like a tight shoe. This should be very formed to the foot to give an almost bare foot feel to the dancer. The shoe should not be big or bulky in anyway this could cause stumbling with the dancer. All ballet sheos should be in ballet pink and either leather or canvas is exceptable.
Jazz or Hip Hop Shoes should feel very comfortable to the dancer and in a black color.
Balle Pointe Shoes should be fit by a professional. We have a contact that we like to use every year, so if you are ready for a pointe shoe fitting please ask us for our shoe expert to make an appointment. Not being fit, could cause serious injury to the dancers feet.
